  1. ...The term graven image lterally dfined as an artifice of man’s hand..if we take the active intellect as being the faculty of the soul symbolic of the hand of the soul in that it is the vehicle by which the reason is able to apprehend and form sensible abstractions..then if one moved by the consubstantiality of the sirit of God within is moved to create images which proceed as their cause from the glory of God.. so, Jesus Christ is said to be consubstantial with the Father in his divinity and consubstantial with "us" in his humanity. the term being canonized by the Church in 325 at the Council of Nicaea..as which the virgin mary and the saints may qualify we see that in no way could these images be considered graven but only amalgams of universal truth monuments to the glory of which God himself has instilled in our limited imaginations... a graven image would qualify as something that had no association with the divine..i know this blost is a funny put on but i figured i would throw this out there for the benefit of st biggles/bosco...as wellthe term graven image may also apply to man made doctrine or custom which is foreign to God and his church such as some of the outer vestibules or porches which claim to be churches ascribe to and slavishly foller since after the days of the reformation....

    2. ...i see you are not reading..the saints are the works of God..from your logic then we should not bow before any cross or crucifix or image of God since those too are works of man's hands...sorry but you are contradicting yourself badly

  2. To the author of the satirical blog "Bite Me"

Are you commenting on the Eccles and Bosco blog under the name St Bosco?
That blog can be funny, but it can also threaten the reputation of those to whom it directs it satire. The author is known to you. Clever but bitter.

  3. Thats rite, images are the works of mens hands. Dont you know that god showed no form of himself on Hoeb...lest the people Corrupt themslfs and make an image? That is what god told Moses. making an image is corruption. The bible is quite clear on that. Fancy footwork wont make that go away.

  4. ...actually the bible since it did not come with a table of contents is a catholic book..there was no bible before the catholic church..there was no accepted compiled canon. so by following the bible you are submitting yourself to the infallible authority found in the catholic church....God showed an image of himself in the burning bush...however since God is pure spirit and has no body per se it is impossible to capture his form since by coercion he operates everywhere and through his being he is heaven...the corruption does not come from making an image ..the corruption comes from abstracting images from reality incorrectly..however we cannot comprehend God with our miind if we could it would have to transcend itself..so what you are saying is that all of creation is an idol...we are only to worship God in the darkness...this is contrary to our nature...we live off of the constructions we find in reality...if we bow to the earth and sky then we are worshipping idols...as you say...there can be no worship as per your guidelines....in effect you are creating a dungeon of the senses for yourself...by proffering subverted bible exegesis suited to your bias....Jesus came as a man..representing him as a man is not idol worship ..if so then God is guilty of idol worship by representing his begotten son as a man....you need to rethink your stance here...images are also the work of God

  5. Thank you my friend. let me clear this up. We are not to bow to the work of our hands. Humans are not the work of our hands. Abstacting images incorrectly. Why do u need the images in the first place?

  6. Well the problem with the statement is your rendering of the predication of the object. When you say bow before the works of man you need understand that the induction of those works was God’s grace. Since the form of the thing known has a mode of being in the knower i may say that my knowledge of what truth God has revealed to me is made manifest in my work and by doing this i say that God is the ultimate author of the work since the intention proceeds as a direct result of the workings of grace. So mary the saints and a crucifix are all God’s works which are made manifest through us as mediators in revelation of God’s truths. So I say God has revealed his son on the cross as an evident truth.Indeed scripture tells us we are here to do God’s work ... For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.Corinthians 3:9 By fabricating an image of this reality i am worshipping God more fully since his truth lives in me through the revelation. The mind works from the phantasm or the image as it appears we make an abstraction in the mind from the reality we sense .. What you are saying is that we should work backwards and ignore what God has revealed and work from abstractions to fabricate images which is impossible... i suggest you do some reading on epistemology to see why images are important..through experience we corroborate the images we glean through our senses and then we can gain certitude and this is how we recognize or re-cognizate and that is how knowledge is acquired...basically...indeed scripture warns us if we do not do God’s work.. (Titus 1:16) They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work
